Når nytårsnyet tændtes, drog man alle som én ud i marken og sang: YValkommen, nykung, wälkommen, måne, i Halland och Skåne, med korn och med kårne, med sol och med wärme, med flask och med böste, med godt öl om höste(n), fød ko, ko i bås, ge' hafre åt gås, galtarne i skogen, träskarna på logen, fiskarna i floden, fød ko, ko i bås!
